Eni Oken's Jewelry Site: May/June 2008 Hi Everybody! These are the topics for this month’s newsletter: LIVE CLASS WITH ENI OKEN: NETTED CAP One of my very rare and few live classes: the Netted Cap, presented during a three hour class at Surf City Bead Shop, down in Orange County, here in California. The class will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2008, from 3:30 to 6:30pm. The cost of the class is $99, which includes materials. To reserve your spot in this class, email Kerry directly at email@example.com. We need a minimum participation to confirm the class! http://www.enioken.com/journal/2008/05/live-class-with-eni-oken-netted-cap.html UPDATE ON SITE REVAMP The site revamp I’ve mentioned several times is going very well. All major programming is over, functionality of the site has been dealt with and we are testing and debugging the kinks. I’ve been horrendously busy working with the development team to get all the bugs out, so forgive me if I seem a little ‘away’. Hopefully another 20 to 30 days and we’ll have a soft launch. I’ll keep you posted! STOP WIRE FROM BREAKING Question: How do I get the wire to stop from breaking when I am weaving the net bezel with it? http://www.enioken.com/journal/2008/05/stop-wire-from-breaking.html DOES TUMBLING BREAK STONES? Question: Have you ever had any gems break during tumbling? It seems pretty rough to use with gemstone beads, or do you add the smaller ones after tumbling? http://www.enioken.com/journal/2008/05/does-tumbling-break-stones.html QUESTION ABOUT TUMBLER Question: I want to purchase a tumbler to strengthen some of my work. I was wondering what tumbler you use and what a good capacity size would be. Also, do I need two different solutions for polishing and strengthening? http://www.enioken.com/journal/2008/05/question-about-tumbler.html USING 26GA WIRE INSTEAD OF 28GA Question: Can you use 26 guage wire for the [weave] wrapping? or is it to stiff? http://www.enioken.com/journal/2008/05/using-26ga-wire-instead-of-28ga.html WHAT GAUGE TO USE FOR WOVEN PIECES? Question: I have a [woven] bracelet design I've been working on. I've chosen 16 gauge for the support. It will be about 3/8 in. wide. I'm unsure what gauge to use for the weaving. I've thought about going as high as 22 or 21 ga. ... the bracelet needs to be sturdy. Do you have any advice on wire ga. and how to harden it afterwards, if necessary? Not sure if something with a weave like this should go in a tumbler. http://www.enioken.com/journal/2008/05/what-gauge-to-use-for-woven-pieces.html :-) Have fun!!!
